Treatment

The treatment of cervical cancer depends on the cancer stage, overall health, and individual preferences. As per the management plan, the expected length of treatment, available therapies, and possible side effects need to be considered before initiating cervical cancer treatment.
Surgical treatment options for Cervical Cancer
Type 
Cold Knife conization
Description
Removal of cone-shaped tissue from the cervix and cervical canal 
Sentinel lymph node biopsy 
Removal of sentinel lymph (First lymph node that can potentially cause primary tumors) 
Hysterectomy
Removal of cervix or uterus 
Radial trachelectomy
Removal of the cervix, nearby tissue, the upper part of the vagina and sometimes lymph nodes
Bilateral Salpingo-oophorectomy
Removal of both ovaries and fallopian tubes when infected by the cervical cancer 
Total pelvic exenteration 
Removal of lower colon, rectum, bladder, cervix, vagina, ovaries, or nearby lymph nodes.

Therapy 
Radiation therapy 
Description
Sending high-energy X-rays or other radiations to kill cancerous cells or inhibiting their growth via DNA damage. Used for advanced cervical cancer.
Chemotherapy
It includes drugs to stop the growth and proliferation of cancerous cells. Chemotherapy drugs include cisplatin, carboplatin, gemcitabine, ifosfamide, irinotecan, paclitaxel, topotecan, or vinorelbine.
Targeted therapy 
Targets specific proteins, enzymes, or molecules that are involved in the spread and growth of cancerous cells. e.g., Bevacizumab, tisotumab vedotin.
