One of the most fearsome forms of cancer, it affects the blood, bone marrow, and lymphatic system with its origins where it matters most: the bone marrow. It starts with the abnormal and excessive growth of white blood cells that fight infections and infestations in the body. The most common blood and bone marrow cancers are leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. Metastasis, i.e., transferring infected cells to other parts and organs, is common.
